1953John Gwynne was sworn in as FTC commissioner John Gwynne served in Congress from 1935 until 1949. He was appointed FTC chairman in 1955.
1954Robert Secrest was sworn in as FTC commissioner Robert Secrest served as FTC commissioner from 1954 until 1961. A US Navy veteran, he served in Congress three times.

2013Nine companies and two executives agreed to plead guilty for fixing prices of automobile parts Hitachi Automotive Systems, Jtekt, Mitsuba, Mitsubishi Electric, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, NSK, T. RAD, Valeo Japan and Yamashita Rubber agreed to pay more than $740 million in fines. Tetsuya Kunida and Gary Walker both agreed to serve prison sentences and pay criminal fines.
