The House Judiciary Committee approved the Standard Merger and Acquisition Reviews Through Equal Rules Act (SMARTER Act), legislation that would revise merger review policies at the Federal Trade Commission, in a mostly party-line vote on Sept. 30.
Democrats on the House committee questioned why the bill was being pushed forward.
